Lymphoedema Therapy

What is Lymphoedema?

Lymphoedema is a chronic condition in which excess fluid (lymphatic fluid) accumulates in the tissues, causing swelling and discomfort. It occurs when the lymphatic system is damaged, blocked or removed, which can happen due to various reasons including surgery, radiation therapy, cancer, infection, or inherited conditions.

Lymphoedema is a lifelong condition that can be managed with treatment but can’t be cured. Conservative treatment, through Complex Lymphatic Therapy, should be performed by a certified lymphoedema practitioner. Treatment usually involves a combination of compression therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, exercise, skin care, and education.

Assessment and Early Detection with SOZO

SOZO device at Harmony in Health & Nature

Harmony in Health & Nature is equipped with a SOZO machine. The SOZO uses bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) to accurately measure a patient’s total body water, extracellular and intracellular fluid volumes. This detailed data can be tracked over time and used to form ongoing treatment and management plans. BIS is non-invasive, low-cost technology and an assessment takes just minutes.

The positive outcomes of early intervention of lymphoedema are thoroughly evidence-based with BIS the most accurate and widely used non-invasive method of assessing and monitoring swelling. In addition the SOZO can also measure body composition including fat mass, skeletal muscle mass and more that may be tracked over time.

Please use the online booking or the details on the ‘contact me’ page to make a booking.
